hi iam on open workpermit.
my designation is IT ANALYST (NOC 2171)
but my duties match database analyst ( NOC 2172).
SO what should i keep in my application NOC 2171 which is my designation or NOC 2172(which matches my duties).

in your case, yes, it is as you are on open work permit. it would be a different story if you were under close wp where you would have to match what is on your wp.

EXACTLY! THE DESIGNATION SHOULD BE SOMEWHAT CLOSE TO THE NOC YOU APPLY UNDER BUT DOESNT HAVE TO MATCH.

2171 sounds good to me, it's definitely closer than 2172.

2171. Your duties match a few NOCs. NOC 2281 matches the first part of the duties as well.
You could also try to contact HRSDC and consult with them.
