Hi Seniors,
I have a peculiar situation here.
I am the principal applicant and have my wife and 2 year kid as dependents as PR holders. We are still to do the landing formalities.

As per the rules , the principal applicant has to enter first to apply for PR card and completing the landing formalities. However in my case , my wife will be in US and needs to go to Toronto for attending a function. Now can she go Toronto alone , before me and if yes is there anything which we need to take care of. What about the landing formalities?? I know these will not be done unless I accompany her or I have gone before her , but that’s not the case. Also , would she require some sort of visa for this as she is not the principal applicant??

Hi

She would need to enter Canada as a visitor.

If she is not visa-exempt, she will need to apply for a TRV. It is very possible that CIC will refuse a TRV because she has already been issued with a COPR/PR visa.

If she is visa-exempt, she should have no issues entering as a visitor.

Hi,
I am sorry to ask again but how will i came to know whether she is visa exempt or not?? Or is it specific to country?/ We are from India , and i believe India is not visa exempt. Right??
and What is TRV??

India is not visa-exempt. A TRV is a Temporary Resident Visa, also called a visitor visa.
