I have applied for a Spousal Based Open Work Permit.
I received the request for medical test around 5 months back. Unfortunately I havent been able to complete my medical examination yet (because of lots of travel and some amount of laziness)
The request for medical does mention that in case the medical is not done in 1 month, the application may be rejected.
Should I get the medical done now? If yes, can I attach a letter of explanation explaining the delay?
Or should I withdraw the application and apply for a new one?
Is there any contact possible with cic other than email? I have emailed them twice before regarding the delay in medical but haven't received any response ever.
It's almost certain your application has been refused / canceled by now since you failed to do the medical. You can try doing the medical now and see if your application is still open. Most likely you'll need to start the application process again from scratch.
CIC is very brutal when it comes deadlines. I have been refused a paper based application due to missing the deadline. They refused to reconsider my request with an apology. This was in 2012.
Thanks Scylla and xpressentry.
My application is online and it is still active. So I went ahead and had the medical done.
Next day I got a call from the embassy saying that the officer may or may not reject the application. They asked me to write an explanation letter, which I did.
So now I just wait.
I have another question.
If the medical does get approved and they ask for my passport, can I submit it in Canada? Note that I applied online, and I am in India as of now. But I may need to travel to Canada pretty soon for atleast a couple of months if not more.
