I am confused if my wife will be dependent or not.
I am applying for my PR in few days. My wife whom I am getting married next week to register our marriage in Canada, though our traditional marriage is on 26 DEC 2012 outside Canada. She is on a student permit and getting paid by university for her PhD. So my question are
1. Will she be a dependent in my application.?
2. Am I suppose to submit police clearance certificate for her too ?
1. Yes, she is. Read the CEC guide and the generic application form for more information
2. Yes - you may still send your application without it and write a letter explaining that you will send it when you get it. Be ready to submit it when the visa officer requests it. Note that, you will have to wait for your file #(i.e. acknowledgement of receipt) before you can add documents to your file.
Here's what the guide says:
Police certificates
If you and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens have to provide:
•a valid police certificate, or
•police clearance, or
•record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.
