Deferral to next semester, what is the effect to stage 1? (from Philippines)

Hello everyone, I have a first stage approval for January /winter intake. Sadly, my school said it will be fully online. I don't want to take online class due to time difference, I have full time work plus kids who are doing home school. I am deferring to May intake instead.

Should I inform the IRCC right away or wait until I get stage 2 hopefully before January. Should I include an explanation why I chose to defer to the next semester?

Another concern is the refusal for stage 2 after deferral, any experience? especially Filipino applicants?

Hello! No I did not. Planning to apply together with my OWP once I get my second stage.
