Hi, I landed in canada in March 2014 ( I am a US citizen)and am eligible to apply for citizenship. I live close to the US border and drive over for a few hours about once a month. However I didn’t realize we needed to record the dates for day trips. What can I do if anything? Do I have to wait another 5 yrs to apply for citizenship now?

Simply do your best job at listing all dates. Attach a letter to your application explaining the situation.
Also google "I94 records" there is a website of the us government where you can access all your border crossings.
