On Application to sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking form, under Sponsor personal details there is a question
Date of which you obtained this status (Canadian Citizenship)
I do not remember the exact date when I became a citizen in Canada. I can only recall it was sometime in April of 1984
Is it necessary to put a date there? or the month and year is enough

The exact date you became Citizen of Canada will be on your Citizenship Certificate that you received...I have the Citizenship certificate and it has date on that..I wrote that date in the application....If you dont have the date on the certificate then you can submit the photo copy of the certificate or Citizenship ID Card and the CIC will find out the date from there data base...Its nothing to worry and also include a copy of your Canadian Passport. They can pull all the details by the passport issued to you as well...good luck

Thank you so much! Truth is the Certificate is stored somewhere in my ex-wife's place
Luckily for me I have my older ID Card and I will do what you say and include a photo copy of this and my passport
