Hello, I have a question. I have a year old daughter and we are living now in my homeland in Europe with mom of the kid,we have been common laws in Canada before now we are common laws here, but going through a rough patch now. My question is if I can come to Canada as a father of my child (she has a Canadian and Czech nationality) but not as a common law to the mother of the child? She wants to go back to Canada and I want to be around my kid.
Is your question about traveling during COVID? Or about getting some kind of status in Canada via your child?
Do you need to apply for a visitor visa to Canada using your passport? Or you are from a visa exmpted country.

Your child may be able to sponsor you when he is over 18 years old and earn enough to support your new family (likely not right at 18... ). And that's assuming that Canada Immigration still has PGP (parents and grandparents sponsorship). But it's a long time and no one knows what will be available then.

It is a question in general, not just in COVID times..and yes,it is about obtaining status in Canada,so I can see my kid grow up and be around even if we don’t make things work with her mom

COVID-19 hasn't changed processes with regards to getting PR status in Canada.
You will only qualify to potentially get PR status through your child once that child is an adult, is making sufficient income to meet the income requirements through a job in Canada and qualifies to sponsor you.
Until then, you would need to qualify for PR on your own through an economic immigration program like Express Entry.
