My boyfriend (Quebec native) is sponsoring me for PR as a "Conjugal Partner" and our first step is for Canada (CIC) to approve him to be a sponsor. Then the next step is through Quebec immigration (obtain the CSQ- Certificate de Selection de Quebec), then final step to apply completely through Canada (back to CIC).
When we look at the forms to apply for him to be a sponsor, there is a section that requires a CSQ number, or date I applied if I have not already received...but I though I should get the CSQ AFTER he is approved to be a sponsor, not before?
Also, how do I actually begin to apply for my CSQ? Is it on the Arrima portal through Federal Skilled Workers Program, or is there a more simple step to getting my CSQ?
to the best of my understanding, you might not qualify as conjugal partners. however, I don't know your personal situation. conjugal is very difficult to prove and likely will not apply to the vast majority of Canadian/US couples.
"The key to assessing the conjugal partnership category is that neither common-law partner status nor marriage is possible, usually because of marital status or sexual orientation, combined with an immigration barrier. "
i can relate to your situation in that it leaves you in a bit of a limbo, as it's not really possible to have a common law relationship while living apart (unless for some reason your partner is legally in the country on a different visa). But you can get married without living together.
I guess I have to live here (on visiting visa status) for a whole year, without being able to legally work, in order to have a common law relationship and then apply as common law? Yikes.

does anyone know for the CSQ on form 0546 - the question "I have cohabited with and lived conjugally with the person I am sponsoring since..." would this be the date 12 months after moving in together? like in the federal IRCC application?
