criminal check VS Security Check

Anyone knows the difference between these two ? I am reading my FOSS (GCMS) and on the part for security check, it was shown "cancelled" in January 2013, but the main column shows nothing just blank.

I called CIC and check my progress, they just say everything is in progress~

what do they check actually?? (i mean we have already completed the police clearance)

security check "cancelled" ? this is something i have never seen..

i just know one pointer about criminality check.. its based on the police clearances . security check... no idea
may be other people on this forum can guide you
and i would to ask others if they have seen this security check "cancelled" thing earlier ? and why it is like that
