Criminal Background Check

Question:
Do you need a criminal record check completed in a country where you resided for 6 years?

My husband's current situation:
Currently residing in Canada on a student visa (has been living in Canada for 5.5 years now)
Was in Korea for 6 years, and lived in the States for over 26 years. From what I read in the guide, he only needs to get a Criminal background check from the States, and not Korea.

Is this correct?

From any country in which you resided for 6 consecutive months or more, since turning 18.
