Hi all, I sumitted an online TRV application from within Canada, and here is my time line:
Submission confirmed: June 28
Original Passport Request: July 23
Passport sent to CPP-Ottawa: July 23
Passport received by CPP-Ottawa: July 24
I'm eager to know how long it takes for CPP-O to return passports lately. Could anyone who has recently been through similar situations share their timelines? Many thanks in advance.
thanks for sharing ur timeline, and let us know when u receive ur PP. Btw, were u already in a visitor visa prior to apply for trv?
Hi, I have recently renewed my work permit. I had a TRV which expired at the same time with the old work permit, now I'm in the process of getting a new TRV. Someone has told me that it's taking 2/3 weeks for CPP-O to return passports, which means... I have to pay an arm and a leg to change my plane ticket which leaves Canada on August 1st... Angry and sad

Are you sure it's taking that long? I hope not, I am in a similar situation. I am waiting for the passport request, and I applied on July 9th, and will need to travel on August 13th, so it is getting quite tight. Good luck to you! hope the turn-around time for visa stamping isn't two-three weeks.

I also applied on July 9th, I bought flight ticket on August 12th, haven't heard anything yet, so worried, please let me know if you get any information.
I did go through this in Feb...I received back my visa in around 10 days...
Hello, thank you for sharing that info. 10 calendar days or 10 working days? it does make quite a difference for my case.
Very soon I will not be able to do what I am planning to do. Right now I am still waiting for a passport request.... if it doesn't come within a few days I think I am in big trouble, since I have a conference to attend on the 13th of august....
oh well, the processing time of 26 days quoted on the CIC website is quite misleading then. I will let them know about it.
thanks again for sharing the information!!!!

Thanks everyone! I've just received my passport with TRV. So my full timeline is:
TRV online application submission confirmed: June 28
Original Passport Request: July 23
Passport sent to CPP-Ottawa: July 23
Passport received by CPP-Ottawa: July 24
Return envelop tracking activated: July 26 (Fri.)
Passport delivered: July 29 (Mon.)
I got the envelop today because of the extra turn-around time for mail service at my work place. I'm not sure whether this is the standard processing time or my case has been expedited, because I actually emailed my itinerary (departure on Aug. 1) to CPP-O and explained that I had to leave the country without delay. Maybe this has played a role, although they never replied to me. Call Centre cannot provide any information even though this is an application from within Canada. You can only contact CPP-O by email or fax.
Good luck to everyone!

By the way, did you send mail by Express or Courier? Thanks.

I used the prepaid Xpresspost envelops, as suggested by CPP-O. They accept mails by couriers other than the regular Canada post service. But they will send mails through Canada post service. That's why they suggest you include an Xpresspost return envelop. If not, or if you provide return envelop of other couriers, they will just send your passport back by regular mail.

That is interesting, so it's possible to overnight it with another courier, but they will not use any other courier, and for a mail back process one can only use Xpresspost...
oh well, I was wondering about it, but it makes sense.
thank you for that information.
