I am applying Inland, and today i went to get a medical appointment for a medical exam.. they are saying $140 for in clinic exam + $538 for bloodwork and xrays!!! Is this normally this high!!?
Sounds about right. Did you pay? There ARE some places that are cheaper, it's best to shop around and ask about it, but it usually is pretty high. My husband went to Kingston, Ontario, it was $200 for him. But had we went to Ottawa, Ontario, would have been around $700 apparently.
Yes, now you have an idea of how much our medical system costs, and it's not just all doctors that cost a lot. We paid about 600 in total for the medical, although 538 seems a bit high for the labs and X-rays, although not entirely out of range.
Prices vary everywhere. The first time my wife did her medical in Atlanta it cost $500. The second time in Ottawa Canada cost $200. It could be an issue of few alternatives. The more qualified doctors available to do the testing, the lower the price. Shop around if you have that choice.
Edit: Only four designated doctos in all of NB. That's why its expensive.

We did the first medical, December 2009, which was a waste. If only I'd known then that we couldn't maintain her legal status in the USA and would need to do an inland application instead of the orginally planned outland to Buffalo, once her degree was finished. I recall $500, but my wife just told me now that it was only $400 in Atlanta. So, I think you're right.
