Hi all,

It says in the immigrant guide (checklist), under item 12 "Proof of Relationship" to include "all pages of sponsor's passport". Why do they need this??? We have lived together since 2006! Is this absolutely necessary? I have a new passport with only a few stamps...so it would be a copy of blank passport pages...

Anyone know what to do??

Thanks!

FS

Yes, it's necessary. Remember that some sponsors are PR's, in which case they have to prove they are eligible under the residency obligation requirement. Hence, even if it doesn't specifically apply to you, you still need to comply with the requirement.

Thanks.

Does this mean I have to copy ALL pages of EVERY passport I have had since leaving Canada? That would be 3 x 48 pages!! Yikes! A lot of copying!

FS

They said copies of the passport pages showing the entry and exit stamps as a proof of your travel visit to your spouse. I haven't seen ALL PAGES..can you send the link please?

I don't have the link, but it's from the document checklist - immigrant (China guide). Item 12 says "proof of your sponsor's visits such as airline ticket coupons, used boarding passes, complete photocopy of all pages of your sponsor's passport;"

Do they only want copies of the sponsor's CURRENT passport? Or every passport???

FS

The requirements are different based on the checklist of the immigration guide of the region. The checklist of my region does not state ALL pages..it just states the pages with the entry and exit stamps.

I might include evidences of my fulfilment of the 3-year residency, although it sounds not necessary on my region guide.

I know. It's not a problem, but do they want only the current passport, or ALL passports? It doesn't specify...

FS

I didnt I just copied the bio page, and all the pages with stamps, but perhaps like stated yours is a region specific requirement. Only my current passports bio page and my old passports stamps. I havent any stamps yet in my new one at time of app submission (recently renewed)

Yeah...I just don't know if I should include copies for ALL passports, as it doesn't specify...which is annoying...

Thanks

FS

Right, I've copied my entire passport. 48 pages!! This is so silly and such a waste of paper and ink! Any other China applicants do this, or am I not understanding the immigrant checklist??

FS

Just copy the pages with stamps and the bio data. They want to have proof that you visited your wife which is in your case anyways not applicable. Makes no sense to copy blank pages.

The China region guide says 'all pages', so send them all pages. However, I would send all the pages of only my current passport; for my old passports, I'd just include the pages with entry and exit stamps and visas.

Look at it this way - you could only show an entry stamp from 2006 and claim you've been in China all that time, when really the rest of your passport is full of entry and exit stamps showing you've only spent a few weeks a year there. Without actually seeing all the pages, the visa officer doesn't know.

Because my husband and I were living in a third country when we met and dated, I had to show all pages of both his passport and mine, covering 8 years - which was 3 passports for me and two for him. Yes, over a hundred pages of visas and entry and exit stamps, an unreadable mess. But the lawyer said I had to prove that both of us had been in the same country at the same time.

Okay this is getting me to think twice if I should copy all mine too and my husband's old passports. We both have new passports so there are no stamps in there yet. I don't know if i should copy our old ones....I don't even think we needed passports in 97 when we met...i think i only used my Citizenship card w/ no photo.

@ canadianwoman...that makes sense...we're also including a copy of our current rental contract (June 2009 to Feb 2013)...so I think with the contract + copies of my passport, it will be easy for the VO to determine that I've been living in China for several years.

Thanks...

each checklist is different from region to region, visa office to visa office....Fencesitter, in ur case i would copy ALL pages of the current passport (since usually once u renew ur passport u don't even get the old one back unless u specifically ask and insist ;))
Lemondrop, does it say in ur regional checlist they need that? if no then don't put extra paper just to confuse them ::) focus to put what they specifically ask!!!
as mroliveland said in the checklist he used (for his wife's region) it said sponsor passport with entry/exit stamps as proof of travelling to visit the applicant, proof of the relationship; same was in our checklist - i submitted all passport pages just because i had exit/entry stamps, visas all over and wanted to show them all...

i think u guys compare too closely ur applications; except the main forms, relationship proofs and some main documents everything else is different from region to region
