Converting US/Pennsylvania drivers license to BC Canada

Hi, I am about to go in to get my Pennsylvania drivers license swapped for a British Columbia license and I had a few questions. I know I need to have my driving record from the states and my license but beyond that I am unsure about the process.

Must I take a written exam or a driving test? Must I get a physical or eye exam? Does anyone know the process? Or do I just hand them my PA license and driving record and they hand over a BC license?

You may not need to actually order your PA driver abstract. I know that ICBC can see some abstracts online (such as California).

You do not need to take a test, just provide the license along with required forms of ID (one of which must be an immigration/status document, showing valid status). Your secondary form of ID can be your PA license or U.S. passport.

Quick question. That says you have 90 days to switch over your license. I haven't been driving while in Canada but I have been here 5 months. Is the 90 day rule just like you can't keep using your US license in Canada after 90 days? Or can I no longer have my license swapped since it is past 90 days?

You're fine. You should have exchanged it within 90 days, but you can still do so...even if you wait until it expires (and 2 years beyond).

I'd call your local ICBC office and ask if they can see your PA record in their system. If they can, it saves you the trouble (and time) of requesting a copy by mail.

Oh...and you will have to forfeit this license, so if it has sentimental value, make a photo copy first.
