My partner (Canadian citizen currently residing abroad, but moving back) and I have applied for conjugal partner sponsorship for me to join him in Canada.
The application has been sent to the processing centre but I am currently still unable to link it to my online account. Can you advise on how long they usually take before allowing applications to be linked?
I was also wondering about the open work permit for conjugal partners. This thread suggests that the open work permit is not available to conjugal partners. Please could you confirm if this is generally the case, or if this type of work permit is available to me. (conjugal partner of a Canadian citizen).
And lastly, judging from your experience, how long does it usually take for an application like mine to be approved, providing that all forms and evidence have been completed to the best standard? - Is the 12month processing time cited on the CIC website really the norm?
As were are moving to Canada this summer I would be in country by the time the application is processed. Is there any way to change it to an inland application after submission?

Not without withdrawing and starting all over again. Are you aware that you have to have valid legal and/or immigration barriers that prevent you from cohabiting or marrying to apply conjugal?
Agree with what was said above as well as answering your other questions by saying, yes for many people 12 months is the norm. There have been cases of applications being approved in only 6 months (mainly Outland from visa except counties with non complex applications) but I wouldn’t get your hopes up, especially with a conjugal application.
Expect to wait 6-8 weeks to get your AOR to be able to link your application.
An no you can’t change to Inland after you’ve applied.

If you are freely able to come to Canada, then you don't qualify for conjugal.
See here: https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/resources/manuals/op/op02-eng.pdf The conjugal partner category applies only to the family class and only to a foreign national sponsored by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada. This category does not apply to the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class as the exception would not be required in Canada.
What exactly are your legal barriers to getting married or becoming common-law? Since you intend to move to Canada soon, you seem to face no barriers to either so as such your conjugal app is almost sure to be rejected. You should withdraw the app and re-submit after you are married or common-law.
Or perhaps you've already lived together 12 months and are common-law partner, but are just confusing the terms?
