Hello,
I currently live in Canada as a Temporary Foreign worker. I hold a work permit.
But I intend to study here as an International student. My duration of course would be about 9 months.
Can I get a study permit and what would be the processing time? And are medicals mandate for all since I already live in Canada.
What happens to my work permit if I get a study permit? In the mean time, can I apply for a PR.
Expert opinion please.

1. You would have to apply for a change of status from worker to student. 34 days.
2. Depends on your normal country of residence, whether you require a medical or not. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/dcl.asp
3. When you apply to change to a student, your work permit is voided.
PMM, if you please could answer my question too.
If I (for example) come to visit Canada from a visa exempt country and I am allowed to stay 6 months, could I apply for a study permit through Buffalo while I am legally stay in Canada within those 6 months ?

Yes, you can apply but there is no guarantee that they will issue it.

Thank you so much for the answer. I know there are no guarantees about issuing neither visas nor permits.
