HI I would like to ask how can I get BOWP if you current work permit doesn't expire. Because now the TFW is stop so you can't have an LMO anymore. Yes I have applied under CEC and got my AOR and I have completed also my MR the only thing now Iam waiting for my passport request. My current work permit expire December 2015. My spouse she have already BOWP. How can I get one if someone knows please help because I don't have a job and they stop the LMO.
A couple of points:
- all work permits expire
- they have not stopped TFW; they have suspended LMOs only in the food service sector
But I guess what you're really asking is, how you can get a BOWP if you're out of work and have more than four months remaining on your permit. Unfortunately they are pretty strict on the four-month rule. But it sounds like you are only weeks away from PR anyway?
If your spouse received the BOWP (means she's the principal applicant on the PR application...?), then you can apply for a spouse's open work permit on the basis of her BOWP...
Please help, we are currently on process for CEC application and we are done with our medical and paid landing fee already. My husband is the principal applicant, his employer issued LMO as restaurant manager last January 2014 but at that time we did not renew our work permit since expiry will by September 2014 and our PR for CEC on process and waiting for PPR. Definetely, i know that all LMO's are suspended and we no longer to use it to apply for renewal of WP. We are worried if the current problem will affect our CEC PR application (filed June 2013). Right now, we are planning to apply for BOWP while waiting for DM . Are we qualified to apply now or wait for within 4 months before expiry on Sept 2014? Second question, applying for BOWP I saw in extension WP doc's checklist is LMO attachment (if applicable), is it necessary for us to attach new LMO isssued to him which is still valid until June or BOWP doesn't need LMO anymore?
If you are the principal applicant, then your wife cannot have a BOWP. She may have a spousal open work permit (SOWP) based on your current work permit (expires Dec 15, yes?)
Unfortunately, the rules for the BOWP have gotten more strict, you won't be eligible for the BOWP until Sept 2015, hopefully your CEC application will be finalized long before then.
