Confused.. How long before my classes, I can travel?? From Pakistan!

Hello guyz,
I initially applied for visa for sept 14 intake but due to delay in visa process, I had to defer my admission and my program is not available in winter intake. I am confused if I can travel to Canada 3 or 4months before my semester begins or not? I have heared different things from different people like few says you can travel anytime once you get your visa and few says you can't travel before a month or max 2 before your semester begins. Moreover I could not find any of such things in documented way. I will be going for May intake now but I wish if some1 might suggest me about the right time to go there or quote any of such thing from any official documents by CIC. By the way, I shall be going to Seneca College Newnham Campus.

There is no official rule or document. If you arrive months before the start of your classes, whether you are allowed into Canada is entirely up to the immigration officer you encounter at the border. If you arrive months early, they may be concerned that you are coming early to work illegally. So make sure you can show proof that you have sufficient funds to pay for these additional months (in addition to the funds required to pay for your tuition and accommodations during the school year).
