Hi everyone.

I tried to create my Express Entry profile today, and it said profile is ineligible, which is very confusing!

I am going to be qualified for CEC at the end of October this year. I have one year of full-time, continuous skilled work experience outside of Canada. I have a Master's degree in Canada. My IELTS scores are CLB 10: Listening and Reading 9, Speaking and Writing 8. I stated that I have $30,000 for a family of two.

I do not understand where things went wrong when I created my profile. I was hoping to be eligible for at least the FSW program with my one year of skilled work experience outside of Canada. Could it have been because I stated that I had worked from July 2011 to July 2012? It was from July 1st 2011 to July 30th 2012, so it was actually 13 months, but I don't know if CIC system calculated it in a different way as it seems to only care about months and not dates.

I really need the system to count that one year of skilled experience outside of Canada, and I want my profile to be eligible. Please advice what to do! Thanks so much for your kind support!

I see no reason why your profile would be ineligible.

I suggest you try creating the profile again, and double check that you're entering all your information correctly.

Do you score 67 points for FSW?

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your response!

I figured out the problem. My current job in Canada is in a different NOC than my previous job in my home country. Therefore, when I selected the primary NOC code to be the current job in Canada and I have not accumulated one year of experience in this job, somehow the system did not count my one year of skilled work experience in my home country. I tried creating the profile with my previous job as the primary NOC Code and I am now eligible for FSW. My score is sitting at 445 now. At the end of October when I complete my one year working full-time in Canada, my score will be 493.

I do not know if I should do an ECA for my Bachelor degree which was obtained outside of Canada because my Master's degree in Canada is in a different major and not at all related to my previous job. My assumption is that skilled work experience needs to be supported by appropriate education. I can choose to only claim my Master's degree and thus will not have to worry about ECA, but I am afraid the CIC officer will question my one year of skilled experience obtained outside of Canada and before my Master's program.

Another question is whether I should withdraw this profile and wait until October to create another profile with my current job in Canada as the primary NOC Code. My profile is under FSW program now, and I want to be assessed under CEC program. Or can I just update the form in October and change the primary NOC code? Will the system automatically change my profile to be eligible under CEC program?

Please advice. Thanks for your support!

You can remain in the pool with your current profile and edit it anytime you want before you get ITA. So, in October, you can edit your primary NOC

Hi Stanlee,

Thanks so much for your time and support.

Should I obtain an ECA for my Bachelor degree to make sure that my one year of skilled work experience outside of Canada is considered valid by CIC officer?

As per the requirement (for points and meet the eligibility), you only need to get your highest degree assessed and in your case you don't need assessment for Canadian Masters. But with regard to Bachelors, in my personal opinion, since you have time on hand, it would be better to get it assessed, not for the points but for the reason that you have mentioned.
