Conflicts in Sudent visa application and Express Entry PR

Please can some one help me out in this decision.

I am currently in the Canadian pool for Express entry and now I want to apply for Canadian Student visa, if I close my portal in the Canadian express entry pool before applying for the student visa and I am asked by the immigration office if I have ever applied for Canadian Express Entry, what will be my answer and how will it affect my chances of getting the student visa?
