My study permit and co-op work permit were both issued at the point of entry to Canada on 16-Aug-2014. However, in the study permit, it states that "unless authorized, prohibited from engaging in employment in Canada".
To faciliatate my SIN application, I found that I need to get a confirmation letter to work off-campus after reading through CIC's website. But it'll take 30 business days to get it. As such, I wanted to try my luck to apply the SIN without the confirmation letter to work off-campus.
Fortunately, I went down to City Hall "Service Canada" counter, and the officer actually granted me a SIN number without asking if I have the confirmation letter to work off-campus.
My question here is : Does it mean I can legally work off-campus now? or I still need to get "the confirmation letter to work off-campus" via submitting a "Case Specific Enquiry“ form?
Anyone there can help me? it will be greatly appreciated!
