The total points that I am claiming are as follows (I have a small confirmation to make though in my education points if someone can help me):
Education:
- Matriculation - SSC (10 years)
- Intermediate - HSC (2 years)
- BCS (Hons) - bachelor of computer science (3 year degree)
- MCS - master of comp. science (1 year evening program while working full-time in the day)
- MS (1 year including 6 months of industrial trainee ship)
Total Masters + 17 years education -> theoretically 25 points
Can any one tell me how CIC will interpret my 1 year MCS which was done in the evening program., Will it be considered full-time study? Although this MCS degree was designed for working professionals and is considered full time study.
Also there was a mandatory 6 months industrial internship which was part of my last 1 year MS and my thesis depended on that trainee ship and I got credit hours for that. Will CIC consider this as full-time study?
So without the MCS, the OP has 16.5 years of education.
If we take the MCS as part time (i.e. equivalent to 6 months full time), then the OP has 17 years of study.
I personally think the OP can count the studies as full time (i.e. MCS being 1 year of study), mainly because there are many people who study full time and work full time. I am a teaching assistant for such a course. Anyway, the OP's program is not a part time program, that is my understanding. THe best way to check is whether the OP did 30 credit hours during that year. If yes, then equivalent to 1 year full time. If not, then its part time. I could be totally wrong in this.
Thank you BobbyB. Great Reference post on Education!
Based on the links you provided, I should be able to get 25 points without any problems. Because my MCS, although in the evening (executive) program, was 15 to 18 hrs per week of instruction. and my MS will also be counted as 1 year full time study. So I should be good!
P.S: Just one small query: where can I get hold of the complete OP6 (not the updates only).
