I'm currently living abroad in Europe on a working visa and need to travel at the end of the month to London because i've suddenly got a new job opportunity, I would be going for an interview/trial period of a week. My passport expired earlier this month however. Tickets are already booked for London. Do you know if I will qualify for the temporary passport if I go to the embassy first thing tomorrow? I'd be traveling on the 25th.
I'm aware that I need to apply for my passport at the same time as the temporary passport and I already have all the documents. I tried doing some research online and I know that temporary passports are given in emergency situations so I'm worried that mine won't really qualify. I spoke with the embassy already last week and was told that the regular passport application will take 8 weeks to process.
Another question: I heard the temp passport will need 4 references. Do they all have to be Canadian or can some be people I know from Europe? What sort of questions will they ask--how detailed do they have to know me?
