I read various posts on this website and they have all been very helpful. I received an admit from Concordia University for Master of Applied Computer Science but my problem is that it does not have the thesis option. I plan to pursue research and obtain a Phd and I think universities will not allow me entry in a Phd program without a Masters thesis.
Can I transfer to Master of Science Computer Science from Master of Applied Computer Science?
If I can then can anyone guide me what are the steps involved?
I have been working in an IT MNC for the past 4 years and recently decided to go for higher studies.
I applied few years back in one of the universities in Canada in Bachelors of Commerce. Later I changed my mind and decided to switch to Computing Science. So I emailed them about switching to other program and later they sent me a new letter of acceptance.

I was under the impression that I could join Concordia under the course (master or applied computer science) and then once I am in university I can apply to change my stream from the current course to the course that has the thesis option (MS in CS).
Is it possible to change Masters program after you enroll in the university.?

You can either do it this way. But when you are clear about your way, then why even take a risk and study first semester in masters of applied computer science. I told you about my experience. Tell them the truth that because you're interested in doing research and masters of computing science will be the best fit to meet my interest.
Just email them. Don't wait. what's the worst that could happen? they will not allow you to join masters of computer science and might be possible that they suggest you better options.
