My girlfriend and I have been living together in Alberta for almost a year and will be submitting a declaration of common law at 12 months. We are both from other countries than Canada and I noticed that we must be living together consecutively without breaks.
We are planning a holiday together to her home country for 1-2 months to attend a family member's wedding. We will still have our lease agreement and rental during this 2 months in Canada and will be returning to Canada after the holiday.
Would this be considered a complication for the common law 12 months of cohabitation?

It's fine, the fact you're going together as well and as long as you're remaining in the "committed marriage like relationship" and have your lease agreement like you said, there's nothing wrong with that. If you're really concerned, keep some receipts to show you went together and paid for things together. When's your holiday? After the 12 months? That's even better if yes, but I still wouldn't worry.

Since it such a long vacation keep detailed records about your joint travel. Plane tickets and or other transportation, any accommodation, etc

To whom are you planning to submit this declaration of common-law? Do you have an application in process with IRCC or will you be applying for a new permit based on your common-law status?
