The sponsor is currently in a debt management program with the credit counselling society and was wondering if that would affect the outcome of the common-law sponsorship application? Not sure if being in a debt program counts as bankruptcy or not since you’re not eligible to sponsor if bankruptcy is declared.

bankruptcy with make the sponsor ineligible

Only actual bankruptcy makes a sponsor ineligible.

If its like debt consolidation, there is no problem with sponsorship,

I sponsored my mom and brother while in debt management program and never had an issue.sponserhip was successful and they alredy landed now almost 3 years
