I (Italian) am applying under the common law stream. My application is pretty solid as I have all the proof of a marriage-like relationship.
I have only a doubt: by the time I will send my package, I will have spent something like 14 days away from my boyfriend, cause of me going to Italy for Christmas and Easter. My personal situation forced me to go, as before leaving to canada I lost my mother, my dad is alone and he wanted me around for holidays.
Now, I know there is no written rule on the "allowed separation periods" but I am looking for advise whether to:
- just wait 14 days more to send my package, so on paper we would have lived 365 days together (would it change anything?)
- Just write an honest letter explaining my personal situation.
- apply as I originally intended, as the 14 days separation period is short.
As separation days, does the day of me leaving canada (flight departure day) count?

Waiting an extra 14 days wouldn't help, since the potential issue is the 14 days breaks the continuous portion of the 365 days. Time before and after the 365 days would not be relevant.
It will probably take you more than a few weeks to put together the entire app package anyways.
However I also think 14 days is not much, and it should be fine.
