Hi all,
I'm applying under the family class sponsorship visa to have my boyfriend of three years immigrate to Canada. We are currently living in New Zealand.
Can someone please tell me how I can get my proof of income statement - option C? Whenever I log into my account for Canada Revenue through "sign-in partner" it keeps saying"Error ERR.062" The only tax year option I get online through the CRA log-in is for 2014, but I have been filing taxes every year since 2003 up until 2014 which is when I moved overseas. Has anyone else come across this?
Also, what can I submit to prove that I will be permanently staying in Canada after my boyfriend gets PR?
I have no intention of going to school when we get back and I don't own any property or have lease agreements. I have been living outside of Canada since May 2015 but only because my boyfriend can't live in Canada, but once he gets PR we will move back right away.
Any help is much appreciated. Looking to submit the application by the end of this month.
Use the 2014 one with an explanation that you are having slight difficulty attaining the 2015 one. You don't have a copy of it in any papers say at your parents? Or if someone prepared your taxes for you, do they? Also they want the two or three page NOA not the summary. You are allowed to sponsor a spouse with no income. So what do ppl with no income provide. A written explanation why they don't have it. Same with you.
People say proof that you are searching and applying for jobs. Apartments to rent. Perhaps letters from friends & family. Are there any banks where you are that have branches in Canada? Sorry if that's a silly question. Make a joint account. I hope that helps.
Thanks for your reply. Can I also ask, if I write a letter explaining my income situation do I still need to list my last 5 years of work history? Or will the letter replace that part of the application?

1. From the checklist:
If you are working in Canada, provide an original letter from your current employer stating your period of employment, salary, and regular hours per week AND one of these documents issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA):
• your most recent Notice of Assessment. This must include line 150 (Total Income), or
• Proof of Income Statement (Option C).
If you are not working in Canada, provide other documentation showing that you can support the person(s) you are sponsoring. This must include a detailed explanation of how you plan to support yourself and the sponsored person(s) on a separate piece of paper.
2. You can get letters from friends and family, research into places to live, contact potential employers, get shipping quotes, transfer money/assets etc.

No, a letter doesn't replace your work history.

Sorry I didn't read the checklist thoroughly enough otherwise I would have seen that "not working in Canada" bit. This clears things up a lot, thanks so much!

Thanks for replying, stupid question but do you know if employment outside of Canada is something I should list in my history, or just the last 5 years of Canadian work and also a letter?
I had to list all employment history in New Zealand for the last 10 years when I applied. And if you weren't working during any period in the last 10 years, simply list it as 'unemployed', 'visitor', etc.
Okay so they ask for the last five years. Then it says if not employed how do you support yourself. Your boyfriend make enough to support the both of you? It's hard to say. If both working to support household bills. Looks pretty good for relationship. I don't remember what I put. I filled mine out back in 2014. Slightly different form. But I had same employer for over 20 yrs. I would like to read about it more.

If they only wanted Canadian work history, that would be stated. The form requires your employment history, end of.

Ok thanks for clarifying, didn't mean to ask such a no-brainer question. Just wanted to be sure

Ok sweet thanks for that!

Try not to overthink the questions so much. Otherwise, you will end up second-guessing everything.
