Co-op Job Offer - LMIA exempt

Hi,

I want to know about claiming 50 points for arranged employment under 1 year co-op job offer which would be LMIA exempt (LMIA exemption code - C32 as per https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...esidents/foreign-workers/exemption-codes.html).

According to the CIC website, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=697&top=29
LMIA exempt jobs are eligible for CRS points and I checked in CRS tool also which gives 50 points for arrangement employment but when I filled the details in my Express Entry profile, I did not receive any points.

Is it that LMIA exempt jobs still require the employer to apply for LMIA?

No you don't get 50 points. Co-op work doesn't even count towards CRS if it's part of your study program.

Just want to clarify the statements at the above mentioned links according to which it seems that a co-op job should be included for claiming 50 points.

1. Under Express Entry, some LMIA-exempt jobs count towards job offer points. For example, if you are working in Canada on a LMIA-exempt work permit that was issued under an international agreement or Federal-Provincial-Territorial agreement (or certain other cases).

If you click on "certain other cases":
Co-op job falls under LMIA exempt job for the category - "exempt for “Canadian interests” reasons->>>designated by the Minister: International Mobility Program - Exemption code - C32 (https://bit.ly/2NVdzTE)

2. Secondly, in the crs tool also, it displays that LMIA exempt job is considered for arranged employment points:

8) Do you have a valid job offer supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (if needed)?
A valid job offer must be

• full-time
• in a skilled job listed as Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B in the 2011 National Occupational Classification
• supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or exempt from needing one
• for one year from the time you become a permanent resident

Co-op does not fall under that category. The section you are quoting is for exactly who it says: researchers, guest lecturers, visiting professors, medical residents/fellows and post-doctoral fellows.

You don't qualify for the job offer points.

Though I also agree with what you said but after a lot of research, I also find something that looks otherwise.

The first link above states LMIA exempt to be the job designated by the Minister
The second link states under R205 (c) Designated by Minister includes Educational co-op - post-secondary - C32
And if you check third link for explanation on C32, it includes co-op jobs not only for research but for education or training as well.

This is the reason I am somehow doubtful.

What do you think about this?
