Should i be getting LMIA to get it done and even if it is i would be having my current employer on the LMIA .

If yes, then did you get a support letter from your province? -You can apply for extension (closed WP) through pnp support letter and nomination certificate.
2. You can apply for OWP when you will receive AOR after getting invitation and applying for PR through Express Entry.
So, if you are positive to receive invitation then you should wait till you receive your nomination and submit online application for PR through Express Entry. You got time till November and should apply for work permit before it expires and if you apply before your WP expires then you will be under Implied status (can continue working as per your current WP) which will give you atleast 2 more months (as per CIC WP processing time) to work till you get a decision on your OWP/close WP application.
OWP is little risky as you won't have AOR by Nov.and but if you will receive invitation and apply online before you apply for WP then there are chances that by the time CIC process your WP application you would have receive AOR.
you can also add a letter along with your work permit application requesting CIC officer to check your AOR using your UCI.
CIC officers always verify AOR before issuing an OWP.
