Clarification regarding upfront medicals

I'm waiting for my AOR on my outland application and want to go ahead and schedule medicals for myself and my non-accompanying daughter. However, I've read very different information on here and can't find anything concrete through the CIC regarding this. Is it possible to go ahead and get the medicals done ahead of time, so that they are ready to submit immediately when I get the med request? Or is there some kind of paperwork that has to be issued with the med request that would require me to wait to schedule the appointments until I get the request? Any clarification here would be greatly appreciated.

Before, You had to do it up front but in December 2016, the 16 I think, everything changed and now you have to wait that they request it.

My husband did it up front just before it changed, December 15, 2016.

Yupp. Submitted in 2017. Up until then you could. Now you cannot
