My husband is a US citizen and I'm a Canadian citizen. My husband was approved for an extension of stay but it expires in November. Any suggestions as to what we should do? I have been approved to sponsor on June 26, 2013, now just waiting for everything to be done on his end. Do we need to re-apply for an extension or should he cross and come back again?
You can just file for an extension, that won't be a big deal usually since you're already approved as a sponsor and just waiting on the final paperwork now.

Ok so just re-apply for another extension and then state "sponsorship approved now waiting on PR approval?"
Yes, It should be as simple as stating that. Did you do outland or inland application?
****NVM, I see that you were CPP-O which means outland, so I guess an OWP is out of the question. ****
Well then, I would say, yes a simple statement that you have sponsorship approval and are now waiting on PR status should suffice.

Awesome thanks!! Just wanted to make sure we could apply to extend his stay again

Another question ;D is there a way to request 1 year extension instead of 6 months? I guess you never know with these applications how long it will truly to take to get PR approval

Either will be fine, unless he's already been in Canada for ages. If you cross the border and come back in, carry proof of income with you in case they ask for it.
Personally, I would opt for the border crossing because they probably won't ask for proof, and if there is a problem, I think it's easier to convince someone in person.

You could just flat out ask if they could extend for a 1 year in light of the recent strike and slow downs in application processing times. No idea if it would work, but certainly can't hurt to try

When you apply for the extension, it's appropriate to base the duration on the processing times appearing on the CIC website.

Oh ok, so I will do that then in September. Sheesh if only I knew the first time we got his extension I would have asked for a year lol!
