City/town of birth

I just noticed that the "Place of birth" on my passport is "X, Y"

X = City
Y= State

In the post-ITA application, should I fill up the "City/town of birth" field in the exactly the same way as above or just X?

Somehow, entering X, Y seems incorrect - but the paragraph at the beginning of this form section does say "Tell us your personal details exactly as shown in your passport"

They are just asking for the city, so just put X.

Stick with your passport. Put in whatever you have on your American passport.

American passports use states as Place of birth.

Also, two differing opinions above

I'm leaning towards entering X,Y to be on the safe side. Anyone else wants to weigh in?

I used just the city and not state without any issues. "exactly as shown in your passport" - can be concluded as the city same in passport and not the way it is mentioned in passport ( personal opinion)

my first pitch ever and is successful. Even X,Y isn't incorrect, I just mentioned what I went ahead with. Best luck with your application.

I know it’s an old post but may be someone has experience i by mistake just put city on my IMM 008 form city and county not state . I hope it won’t create a problem
