Citizenship eligiblity question

My wife is a canadian PR and wants to apply for citizenhip but her Candian employer ( a private canadian company) sends her to USA for projects and she spent most time there than in Canada in last 5 year so was not in canada for 1095 days.. Can she still apply for citizenship on this basis? thank you

No. The time spent outside of Canada cannot be counted. Only time spent physically in Canada counts. She will need to wait until the meets the residency requirements to apply.

How many days has she spent in Canada? Meeting RO for PR may also be an issue. How many days has she spent in Canada for the past 5 years?

Time Lived in Canada

Losing your permanent resident status

• you voluntarily renounce your permanent resident status;
• a removal order is made against you and comes into force; or
• you become a Canadian citizen.

Even if you don't meet the residency obligation, you are still a PR until an official decision is made on your status.

1. No, she needs 3 years residency in Canada in the previous 5 years.
