A week ago, I got a mail from the Tokyo visa office, requesting my husband to submit a new police clearance certificate. They have given us 6o days from the letter.
We went to the embassy and got the required forms and fingerprints and sent them to his relatives in Manila. Hope we can get the PCC soon before the deadline.
I do have a question though. In the letter it says " We need a new PCC of your spouse in order to further process your application". SO, does that mean that my application is now on hold?????
We already did our medicals. So, are background checks on? or is it on hold for now until we submit the PCC?
Please senior members, I would like to get your feedback on this.
Thanks once again!
Hi
You application is on hold till you sumbit the new PCC.You just need to act fast.
Benny
Hi okshan
Did you not send PCC for your husband in the first place or it was an expired one?
As for the wording in your letter, I guess it is standard to say they need more documents to continue processing the processing.
WPC71,
I did send it before but it got expired. That's why they asked for a new one. So, I really do wanna believe the application is not on hold and that security checks are continuing meanwhile. I do hope to get the clearance from Manila hopefully by the end of this month.
Will update you later.....

hi bennyameh,
Thanks for your reply too. I have already acted fast as soon as I received the letter. NOw, just waiting for the document to be sent back to us soon from Manila. Hope things will speed up again soon.
What do you mean it got expired? PCCs are valid if they not older than 3 months when you submitted your docs to the visa office. So they cannot get expired unless they ARE expired when you submit them.
Well, I submitted it last March, 2009 and the visa office said therefore it is expired because one year had passed and my application is still not closed or finalized. That is the reason why they want a new clearance.
It's frustrating...
Although, you do raise a good point wpc71.
My own PCC should also be expired by now. I submitted mine from my country in January, 2009 and it's been past one year but the CIC TOKYo office did not want a new one from me....
So, the question is why do they insist I get a new one from my spouse? I really wonder what is happening or what they are thinking.
I just think they are a little confused! I was meaning to ask you the same thing, how come yours is fine and his is not? What about your PCCs from Japan? How old are those? Did you get that explanation from their letter or that is your interpretation?
Thanks
Yeah, my PCC's from Japan should also be expired by now.. I mean yes it is my interpretation because I can't think of any other reason. My lawyer basically said in his letter also that the visa office wants t a NEW PCC of my husband.
He didn't clearly state as to why the visa office wants a NEW ONE. But, I am guessing it's because his old one is expired. But then again, mine should be expired as well.
I just can't think of any other valid reason. Unless they think that the PCC we submitted before looks suspicous to them? Which is fine, I mean we have nothing to hide and we can prove them wrong if they think that there might be something wrong?
I really don't know what else to think. All I want now is to submit this piece of document hopefully by early next month before the deadline and then wait and see again. I do hope that they won't send another mail after a week to request for my PCC!!! That would be so annoying! I mean, it is better if they send their requests all in one mail...Instead of spreading them apart....
Hi
You are on security check right now and there need to clarify some few issues by getting an up dated PCC and if it turns out clean, you will progress to the next stage.
Just relax as everything will work out fine.
Good luck
Benny
Thank you benny...
I will post again once I get to hear what happens next. Meanwhile, I will wait and see. Patience is a must!
Okshan,
Do you know when your husband's old PCC from Manila was issued? Was it within three months before your application to the CIO?
My friend's PCCs are as old as yours and she worries if she might be asked for new ones as well. Thanks,
Hi Okshan,
I just saw this thread and can't believe the Tokyo office is requesting your husband's PCC even after your medicals!
So I was really lucky I got all requests in one letter...
For everybody's reference: I submitted my PCC from Japan in an update last year, so in theory, that one expired when I did the medicals. And in the final update request with medical instructions they asked me to send a PCC from my country Mexico (This is because I spent about 6 months in my hometown in 2007). So I thought, "wow, somebody in that office is really nitpicky!".
Anyway Okshan, please keep your faith! There's not much else they could ask ;D
I'll keep you & your family in my prayers.
Hi wpc71,
I got the PCC in late April and sent it to the visa office in early June. So, it was not expired at the time I sent it to the VO. I hope your friend doesn't have to go through the same.
Shakira,
thanks for supporting me

I shall update you and wpc71 as soon as I hear a new word from the VO. Thanks for the support you two.
