Hi. All.
We are in process of creating an express entry profile. We are keeping or documentation ready but need clarification on the marriage certificate. My husband and I are Indian citizens and have married in the Church as per the Indian Christian Marriage Act of 1872 and also registered in the marriage registry of india. We have our Church Marriage Certificate which is stamped and notarized by the Registrar of Marriage of India. Please advise if any anyone had this issue and if this marriage certificate would be accepted. Thank you.

Marriage Certificate issued by Registrars of Marriages from India is acceptable. No other documents are required.

Hi,

Please advise if your church marriage certificate was accepted?

Hello, if OP can respond to this question it will really help, whether Marriage certificate from Church was valid or it was required to get Registrar's document by IRCC.
Thanks in advance.

I am also curious because I am in the same boat. I recently got married during my waiting period after submitting all the necessary documents to IRCC. We have also performed Christian ritual marriage. I haven’t registered the marriage with registrar yet. I’m only holding the marriage certificate given by the church. Do I have to register the marriage in India?

If you want to add spouse in application, get a marriage certificate from Govt. That is mandatory.

In every case, Marriage Certificate from registered Govt. authority is required by IRCC
