I’m a Canadian working as an English Teacher in China. I sent in her spousal sponsorship application last week, but still have some nagging concerns.
All not English/Frenchi docs are supposed to be translated at notary public with verified true copies. In China you can only notarize.
I notarized all of the important docs:marriage cert, police check, birth cert (no real birth cert during this time in China, so we went to her hometown and the notary supplied us with notary certificate of her birth), her hukou(family booklet), and our mutual house contract.
For Chinese bank papers showing my wealth and us exchanging funds I just got a translation from the company that the notary uses. I also attached a letter explaining my actions and showed my conversation with the translation company where the person acknowledges they are the company the notary uses.
Anybody think I will have issues with just translating these bank papers ?
I’m kicking myself for not notarizing them, but I couldn’t have notarized every page showing salary anyways.
I'm in a similar situation. How did your application go?
Was it ok to translate the documents in the Notary Public? I'm worried since they don't write the affidavit.
And how did you get the police check? (Did you need the letter from Canada? Did you do it in the police office or in the notary public?)
