If one of the parent was born in Canada or a naturalized Canada (PR acquired citizenship) at time of baby's birth outside Canada, the child is automatically Canadian. Just have to apply for canadian citizenship certificate.
Marriage status has no bearing or no effect on being able to pass on citizenship. The parent can be single, divorced, widowed, common law or married. Makes no difference.
