Child Passport References

I am trying to fill out my child's passport application and have the following clarifications.

1. There is no references column in the application.
Do I need to provide the 2 references or not?

2. Relation between the Parent and other Parent,
Who is the other parent mean....

3. Guarantor must be family member means,
Can my wife sign as guarantor.

Could anyone clarify my questions, please?

1. If they dont ask for references, then they don't need references.
2. If you are a parent, then the child also had another parent. What’s your current relationship with the other parent? Is he/she your spouse, common law, separated divorced etc
3. Yes if she is Canadian and has a passport

Thank you Engray for your reply. My wife is from India and has no Canadian Passport, does she still become a guarantor.

Guarantor must be Canadian citizen.
