Hello,
I am looking for some information here; my husband and I are naturalized Canadian Citizens, we moved to the US for work and we had a daugther, she is 12, last September we moved back to Canada and at the port of entry the immigration officer issued a 1 year visa for her that now is about to expire. I just want some guidance as to what to do next. Do I have through the sponsorship and PR and at the same time extent her visa? or there is another easier way to get this done? I will appreciate some direction in this regard
Was your daughter born before or after you or your husband became Canadian?
if I follow that http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp your daughter is not already a PR of Canada - you need to sponsor her.
For children being sponsored on their own, there is only the outland route. So download the outland application, start filling out papers from her point of view, and send everything to Mississauga.
In the meantime, you need to extend your daughter's current visitor visa, as filing for outland PR won't give her any status. Apply for an extension online BEFORE her current visa expires, and explain that you have applied for PR. Ideally, include proofs of that ( fee receipt for example).
There is no easier way to get it done. In fact - you probably should have started the process already last September if it was possible.
Good luck,
Sweden
Thank you for your response, you are right, I should had started this whole process long time ago. Im going to apply for the extension and the PR right away.

I am guessing she was born in the US? In which case, that makes her a US citizen, so you should only have to extend a visitor record as she would not need a visa if she is US born.
I didn't mean to shame you of course - it's not my intention, I understand that life gets in the way!

the most important things is: file for the extension before the current visa expires in a month (I suppose). See here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp and follow the "extend your stay" link.
You can also already pay the fee for her PR application and include the receipt as a proof that you are serious about getting her extension (pay the fee online on CIC website, and you will get a receipt emailed to your address, so you can include in the visa extension). Ask for 14 months, based on the current timeline for US applicants. There is a good chance that her PR will be approved before that, but in case - you won't need to do it again. Some other applicants have been successful in obtaining a 14 months extension by linking it to the PR processing time - so it's worth a try.
As soon as you have filed for the extension, your daughter has implied status: even if her visa runs out before the extension comes back, she is legally allowed to be in Canada, no worries.
THe PR application itself should be fairly straightforward, as you're already living in Canada ( no need to prove intentions to return), you won't need much "proofs of relationship" as it's pretty obvious that she is your daughter, and no police certificate needed as she is under 18. Do the medicals last as they are only valid for 1 year.
Good luck,
Sweden

I'm confused as to why your daughter would not already be a Canadian citizen. When were you and your husband naturalized, and when was your daughter born? Is she your natural child?

from CIC website:
You may already be a citizen if…
you were born in Canada.
you naturalized in Canada.
you were born outside Canada after April 17, 2009, but one parent was born in Canada or naturalized in Canada.
You may not be a citizen if…
you marry a Canadian citizen.
you are adopted by a Canadian citizen (FAQs about adoption).
your refugee claim is accepted.
you have lived in Canada as a permanent resident for many years.
you renounced your citizenship and never applied to resume your citizenship. (See information on resuming citizenship.)
you were born outside Canada on or after April 17, 2009, and neither of your parents was a Canadian citizen born or naturalized in Canada. You were born outside Canada before April 17, 2009, to a Canadian parent, you are not already a citizen or you lost your citizenship in the past, and you were born in the second or next generation abroad (this includes people who failed to retain citizenship.)
your citizenship was revoked by the Canadian Government.
see the part in bold. As the child is 12 years old, it may apply.
If one of the parents was a citizen when the child was born, then the child is Canadian. But I suppose that the OP has already checked that option ( as this is by far the easiest).
