I'll be starting my permanent residency application soon, as well as my son whose in Philippines. He is a minor and has his father's last name but we are not married. One of the requirements for the permanent residency application is child custody paper. Does anyone of you have idea about custody papers in the Philippines?
All I know is that you either need the fathers permission for your son to immigrate or you need papers from court showing that you have full custody and are by law free to move with your son to another country without the permission of the father.
I have the same situation like you. Will you please share how did you get the child custody paper? I am so desperately looking how to get one, I searched in so many website seeking to find the answers ,I tried to call a local family lawyer here in Ontario but the lawyer said that I have to get it from Philippines. My application is still in process.Thank you in advance.

Can't you just ask the father for his permission? If the Philippines is anything like Jamaica then it can take months before the case goes before a judge and all that. Furthermore if the child's father objects and decides to fight you it can complicate things. Its easier to discuss it with the father and get him to write you a notarised letter granting permission.
