Suppose I enter Canada on a study permit with a PR application pending. If the PR application is approved while I am in Canada what is the procedure for "landing". Can I land at a local CIC office?
Secondly, how will the 1095 day residency period be counted? Will it start from the day of landing at the CiC office even if I am still a student?
The PR residency obligation will start being counted from the time you land and become a PR. Your time here as a student (pre-PR) cannot be included in this count.
For citizenship, you can include up to two years before you became a PR towards your citizenship residency calculation - however each of the days spent in Canada in the two years before you became a PR only count as 1/2 day for citizenship purposes.
And yes - you can land at a local CIC office. You will have to book an appointment to land. I believe it takes anywhere from a few week to a couple of months to get an appointment.
Thanks a lot for your very precise and clear answer.
