Hi,

Can someone enlighten me with regards to changing my program?

I am currently taking a certificate program of 1 year and planning to change to 2 years program this April 2021.

How will this affect my student permit and visa that is only valid for a year? Do I have to reapply immediately or do I have to do it a few months before my permit expires?

Are you in Canada?

When you change your program with a different length, notify the IRCC of any changes. Not sure if they will give you another study permit at that time, you can always extend when it is about 4 months to expire.
