I had already got an admission for a program for Fall 2018 term, and I got student visa with that too.
Today, I got admission for another program from another university for January 2019 term. Because the previous program was a little too expensive, I would prefer to enroll for this new program at the new university.
But I'm worried about study permit. If I change DLI in Immigration website and enter into Canada near January 2019 instead of September 2018, won't I face any problems during my arrival in Canada? Will the officer issue me study permit?

I am going to be in a similar boat too. Do let me know if you find any solution.
As per my understanding, First thing is that u have to arrive in Canada before September 2018, only then an officer at the airport will issue the student visa. Only then u can change DLI in IRCC website.
The only problem is u have to maintain regular student status which is a requirement for the study permit. So if you don't register for Fall 2018 university, you wont be a student for 4 months. which can invalidate the visa.
The only solution I see is to register for Fall 2018 university for 1 semester, withdraw in December, change DLI, join the new university. Although 1-semester fees will be lost.
This is just my speculation. Any experienced member please comment.
Sorry for being wrong earlier. You can land near jan 2019 with new LoA and already stamped visa on your passport. Only thing you have to do is change DLI.
