I'm a US citizen working in Canada under NAFTA, hoping to work for a new employer. If I have to apply for a new work permit, will I still get the quicker processing time given to NAFTA (or whatever it's called now) permit applicants?
Once I have the necessary documents, is it possible to apply at the border? Or is there another way to get a quick processing time while living in Canada?

Yes- you will need to obtain a new work permit before you can start working for your new employer. Yes - you can do this at the border. Make sure your new job falls under NAFTA as well - otherwise an LMIA is needed.
