I am on a closed work permit in canada, I wish to change my employer.
I have found a new job in canada. I wish to know the process of the same.
Yes the employer needs to apply for an LMIA and the you need to apply for a work permit.
Thanks for reply.few more queries : 1) How much time it takes to get LMIA approval and work permit approximately?
2) What will be the duration of work permit?
3) Is this Work permit going to be open work permit or closed ?

1) 4-6 months for the LMIA and then additional time for the work permit.
2) 1-2 years
3) Closed.
Thanks for your quick reply. Who's responsibility it would to be apply for LMIA and cost to get it ?
The employer that is why most are unwilling to go through the process.
given i have a job offer, 1) if i apply for PR, any idea how long it should take ? 2) If my employer sponsors me for PR, would it take equal or less time ?

I am software developer with 10 years work exp. so which immigration stream i should apply for ?
Thanks for reply, If i apply under federal skilled worker program, how job offer and employer sponsorship can help me ?
If your new employer is willing to help you with PR process then i suggest you read up which immigration you qualify for. Your employer must apply a new LMIA and give job offer to you. If you are somehow again changing jobs, your job offer will be invalid and you will have to redo the process again.
If you have more questions, i suggest you go into the skill immigration section on this forum.

It won't help you at all unless your employer gets an approved LMIA.

Thanks for your reply, my new employer is ready for LMIA process, i just need to know if i should go for work permit or should go for PR after that.
