My wife has filed Open Work permit (Spousal Work permit filed in 1st week of January 2013) and the file went to Chandigarh office. Although, VFS guys have told that it will take a month but looking at the forum and current processing times in NDVO, it doesnt seems real.
CIC website says 4 months for Chandigarh and 1 month for New Delhi.
The website for Canadin High Commission to India states 20 working days.

Work Permit Extention at the Port of Entry for Indians
Hello,
I got worker visa Issues issues August 2012, Unforrunately i didn't not enter to canadan due to personal reasons and also as per the project requirment i have not yet started my job.
My Worker Visa(W1) is valid upto May2013.
I also apllied for my family dependants, all of them have the Via validity upto May2013
Now my company wants me to come by mar2013
So will my work permit get extended at the port of entry based on my offer letter
also I had an LMO with that I apllied for my Work permit.
what will happen for my dependants study pemit?
can anyone explain regarding this
Any reason why you want your WP to be extended at POE ? You can always apply for extension after you land in Canada in the month of march.
I am not pretty sure but I read somewhere in this forum sometime back that WP extensions are POE is only for Visa Exempt countries. Please double check on this.
Thanks for the reply. Based on the work permit extention only my dependants Visa will be valid
my daughter is having study permit, if i have to join her in school she require long time study permit say min for 6 months.
what my company says Visa & work permit will get extended at the port of entry since I have to work for min one year. My doubt is whether the WP will be given at the POE based on the Visa validy ? or based on my Contract ?

If you already have Work visa and also your family members, you can enter canada any time till May 2013.
Now, after entering, file for extension after landing.
Question: If you have LMO, when it was approved. There is a time limit mentioned in LMO that you must apply Work Permit (Extension) by "some date". If you do not apply by this specified date, your LMO expires.
Usually, LMO is provided to do the job for 2 years or 3 years. BUT you musty apply the Work Permit within 6 months when the LMO was issued to you (Or the before the date specified in LMO).
