hi
I am 2002 engineering graduate from India. Have been working in MNC from last 15 years. I always wanted to do masters but somehow due to unavoidable circumstances I couldn’t pursue my studies. Now I was looking to apply for study visa for Canada. Are there any chances of getting acceptance. Would like my husband and my 9 year old son to accompany me. Please advise.
Thanks

Frankly speaking, it will be a difficult case - 15 years of gap is a big education gap. That coupled with dependents will make it even more difficult to get a study permit.

Thanks for your response. Is it somewhere in the criteria for the study visa ? I mean if it is, then it’s a clear rejection. One of the consultants in Canada is offering this to me so wanted to know if the option even exist or feasible .

There is no checklist as such. But the thing is : When you apply for study permit, you need to assure the Visa Officer(VO) that you will leave Canada post your studies and will not live there illegally afterwards since many in the past, have abused this to get an entry to Canada and then did not leave. An education gap will naturally invite the question that why are you continuing after such a gap. Of course, if your SOP is strong and have legit reasons, a VO will not hesitate to approve your visa.
Similar things hold for the dependents. If you show some strong ties to your home country, then it should be able to convince the visa officer of the ingenuity of your case.
The Visa authorities just want to ensure that you won't continue living in Canada past what your permit allows you to stay. If you are able to convince the VO this, then there should not be any problems. Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for your response. It really helps.
