Hi Friends,

I have got admission into PhD program at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. I have got funding as well, $20000/year. Got 5 years of experience in a MNC related to the field of PhD program and also worked in Germany for 2 years.

MSc. (Mechanical) : 70%
B.E. (Mechanical) : 69%
12th : 73.5%
10th : 71 %
IELTS : Yet to take the test

want to know what is my chances of getting a visa.

hey you have excellent profile. why didn't you apply in other universities like alberta or mcgill or mcmaster ?? these are much better than sfu.

bruv if you look at the past people have took advantage of current spp program look at their case and see how people have been sucessful in obtaining visa and decide accordingly

@ dhananisam , Will look into the SPP prgram as well.

Congrats. If you like the prof and research, look no further. Thats what matters the most. Give your IELTS ASAP and show some backup funds. You will get visa for sure.

Don't waste money on Visa consultants. Canadian visa process is pretty straightforward. Read everything carefully including VFS site and Study Permit Application guide. People on this forum are helpful. Don't hesitate to ask anything. But please search previous threads/Google before asking though.

@ sue_in , Thanks . I am planning to show 8 lacs as loan. I will take the IELTS soon. Friend of mine at SFU told he only showed the offer letter mentioning the research grant.

Aarey, no need to get 8 lacs as loan. Just show your/guardians savings that too as a backup source (around 3-4 lacs is enough). Otherwise funding letter works well. But ask others well before deciding anything.

I want to apply for Meng in chemical engg , process engg or petroleum engg.
I will be applying to 3 to 4 unversities . please guide me which universities i should apply , to have real chance of getting admission.

you will get visa, make sure you document everything in perfect way.
